Zyklop, Dreibein & Käfer

CollColl designed the three clay sculptures Zyklop, Dreibein und Käfer (Cyclops, Tripod, and Beetle) for Altoonapark in St. Pölten. Their shapes are abstract and open to interpretation; they seem unusual and also a bit irritating. An important aspect is their materiality: one can sense a clear distinction from familiar everyday objects. The forms are based on models that the co-creators from the Children’s Advisory Board had previously built in a workshop with the architects of the KinderKunstLabor, Michael Salvi and Thomas Morgner from Schenker Salvi Weber. The children worked with clay, concrete, and pigments and collectively produced the body-sized sculptures.
