Buchstabentheater

The Buchstabentheater (Alphabet Theatre) by Andrea Maurer was chosen to be one of the two permanent art installations in Altoonapark. Open on all sides, the walk-in sculpture has the shape of a floating letter “A” and offers a multitude of ways to perceive and interact with it. Inside, there is a cuddly letter “J” that serves as a support and seating area as well as a semi-transparent spy mirror that reverses the outside and inside. An elaborate, polyphonic selection process for the sculpture was conducted with Public Art Lower Austria (KOERNOE) and with the participation and contribution of children from the art ideas workshop and the Children’s Advisory Board. In her co-creation workshops, Andrea Maurer continuously enhanced this new piece together with the children.
