Intergenerational Artistic Workshop for all Interested

We offer a wide range of artistic activities related to the exhibition Paper, Rock, Scissors—Materials and Tools of Art that can be tried out directly in workshops. How is paper made? What is a sculpture? Are there also works of art made of fabric? What exactly is the sense of touch? Can any material become art? And how old is the oldest pair of scissors in St. Pölten? We will explore all these questions and other considerations during a short tour of the exhibition. Afterwards, everything will be ready for you in The Other Laboratory, where you can try your hand at the materials and tools featured in the exhibition.

Paper, plaster, fabric, paints, scissors, string, mirrors, chalk—tearing, cutting, painting, pouring, shaping, writing, threading, gluing. Or maybe you have completely different ideas? Each weekend focuses on a different material. Check the schedule to find out which one it is.

This time:
Plaster is one of the best known and most popular materials in sculpture. It is suitable for molding, casting, wrapping, reproducing or modeling.
After drying, it transforms from a thin liquid paste into a solid, brittle material that can take on and reproduce any shape, surface and texture. Apart from its classic use in the 19th century, many contemporary artists also use plaster as a sculptural idea material for random and unusual material sculptures. The workshop involves casting, shaping, carving and knotting. The focus is on working with your own hands, getting to know sculpting techniques and free experimentation.
